After months of working from home, heading into the office feels like a distant memory. Whilst we know there are set to be some major changes when we return, we can’t help but dream about how we’d transform our workplace if we had the chance.

Taking inspiration from directors from Wes Anderson through to Hayao Miyazaki, we’ve created six eye-catching offices that would be sure to increase your motivation and boost your workplace wellbeing.

Wes Anderson

Inspired by Anderson’s strong visuals and symmetrical cinematography, this office includes a retro colour palette, vintage furniture and art deco ceiling lamps. With elements borrowed from The Grand Budapest Hotel and Moonrise Kingdom, this office certainly makes us feel like we have gone back in time.

Tim Burton

Burton’s signature style makes for a gothic and low-lit office space. Notice how elements have been taken from several of his highly stylised films, with nods to the melancholic Edward Scissorhands and a distinct floor pattern inspired by Beetlejuice. Can you spy the Cheshire Cat Grin from Alice in Wonderland? 

Hayao Miyazaki

Inspired by the homely and traditional Japanese architecture seen in many Studio Ghibli films, including My Neighbor Totoro, this office space evokes a sense of relaxation and tranquillity. It features the character ‘No Face’, also known as Kaonashi, from his movie Spirited Away. Can you spot it?

Stanley Kubrick

Inspired by two of his greatest movies - 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Shining - this office space features key visual elements such as a sinister and iconic pattern from The Shining, and the juxtaposition of classical sculptures against futuristic elements. Check out the monolith at the front of the room, as featured at the start of Space Odyssey 2001.

Guillermo Del Toro

Inspired by his distinctive style that merges the worlds of monsters and comic books, this office could be part of a science lab. Taking elements from The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy, notice that this office has an industrial touch, with metal bookshelves and ceiling lamps. 

Baz Luhrmann

It’s showtime! This office space was inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s lavish and theatrical style. From Moulin Rouge to The Great Gatsby, this office features distinct visual elements such as a red colour palette and lighting reminiscent of early-20th Century theatres.
