Brother's Innovative Inkjet Cartridge Remanufacturing Programme: Leading the way in sustainability
Brother's innovative Inkjet Cartridge Remanufacturing Programme – a ground-breaking expansion of our sustainability initiatives.
Building on our successful toner cartridge remanufacturing efforts, we are extending our expertise to include inkjet cartridges, emphasising our commitment to reducing waste and conserving resources.
This commitment is solidified in Brother Group’s Environmental Vision 2050, which guides Brother International Europe (BIE) in its carbon reduction efforts while still delivering high-end quality products for our customers:
Join our mission: Return and reuse Brother Ink Cartridges
Across Europe, the current remanufacturing rates for cartridges are low, highlighting the urgent need for better reuse and recycling rates. This makes our initiative even more crucial.
At Brother, we believe that sustainability is a collective effort. By returning your empty inkjet cartridges, you help us achieve a carbon-neutral future. Our dedicated team of industry experts at our European facility ensures that 100% of returned cartridges are remanufactured or recycled. Each cartridge is sorted, cleaned, inspected, and rigorously tested to ensure the best quality every time.
Remanufactured to as-good-as-new quality, our cartridges can be reused repeatedly, with full traceability of parts to track how many times a cartridge has been remanufactured. This program significantly reduces waste and conserves valuable resources, supporting our unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility. Your participation is crucial in ensuring high-quality printing remains accessible while lessening our environmental impact.
Brother's legacy of sustainability
For over 20 years, Brother has been at the forefront of sustainability, remanufacturing more than 40 million toner cartridges. Our Inkjet Cartridge Remanufacturing programme is a natural extension of these efforts. Even damaged cartridges are not wasted; their useful parts are repurposed, and the rest are fully recycled, ensuring zero waste. This circular economy approach is part of Brother's broader sustainability goals, exemplified by our zero waste-to-landfill certification and carbon-neutral facilities in the UK and Slovakia.
Inkjet remanufacturing: A commitment to quality
Our Inkjet Cartridge Remanufacturing process takes place in our state-of-the-art UK facility. Despite the complexities associated with remanufacturing, we prioritise sustainability and environmental benefits, staying true to Brother's commitment to doing the right thing for the environment. This dedication aligns with our business objectives and supports high-skilled job creation, promoting a more sustainable economy. Our remanufactured products are of as-good-as-new quality and can be remanufactured up to two times, further contributing to environmental sustainability.
The broader impact: Brother's environmental milestones
Brother's dedication to sustainability is long-standing. Since 2013, we have maintained zero waste to landfill certification in our UK facility and have been carbon-neutral since 2021. In line with our 2030 sustainability targets, we are committed to reducing the ratio of virgin materials used in our products*2 to 65% or less*3. These efforts support a sustainable circular economy and reflect Brother’s belief in the synergy between environmental responsibility and economic growth.
